Big Pile o'Cheetahs by ceronaPhotos Big Pile o'Cheetahs by ceronaPhotos
Three out of the five Cheetah cubs (Acinonyx jubatus), exploring their beautiful enclosure and relaxing after a hard day of play, play and more play. There's a total of five cubs in this litter, three males and two females – Itjane, Sanne, Tlata, Rabaa and Khamssa, born in May 2010. I can unfortunately not tell them apart :D

Lovely works, cer! And congrats for all of the features and for winning 'the' contest! May I ask you: Do you go inside their cages to get these pictures? I mean, in most zoos animals are kept behind bars, not as I see in your photographs. So, how do you do that? Just curious!

Thank you :hug: No, I don't actually get to go inside the enclosures :giggle: Most of the zoos around my area have glass that you shoot through, which means there are no bars or meshes in the way. If there are wire meshes in the background, I try to focus my camera in such a way that the depth of field blurs it out, like in this one (there is a mesh in front of the trees, but barely visible) or I shoot from such angles that there's either sky in the background or foliage. I always go down to eye-level with the animal I'm shooting, so that usually creates some nice interesting backdrops :nod:

ZOMG Malin, this is so beautiful! :wow:

I absolutely fell in love with these cheetahs when they popped up in my inbox. :giggle: They are so adorable all standing together on the rock, all watching you with those cute little eyes. :aww: :love: I love the blurred background, and the trees further back. That effect really brings more attention to the cheetahs and lessens the distractions. :hug: There is so much focus and the image is so clear, you can see every single hair on their bodies, every chip out of the rocks, even the little bit of moss on the lower level of the rock. You can really see all of that detail, which really makes the image more appealing! :love:

So there are 5 of these adorable little guys? :aww: They are amazingly cute! :love:

Amazing job with this, Malin! :glomp:

Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoy this :love: They were truly amazing to watch, and even though we didn't get to admire them for very long (half an hour) I instantly fell in love with them :giggle: And the speed! The way they chased each other around and around on their long thin legs just looked so funny! You would never guess how fast they run just by looking at them :lmao: I managed to get a few pics where all 5 of them were lying on top of the rock resting with mummy, but they never looked the same way though.. ^^;
